School Evangelisation Evaluation and Roadmap
About
La Salle Academy at Australian Catholic University (ACU), in collaboration with Catholic Schools Youth Ministry International (CSYMI), has developed the School Evangelisation Evaluation instrument (SEE) and the School Evangelisation Roadmap (SER). Both are managed by the Spiritus International Leaders Network which is an initiative of ACU in partnership with CSYMI.
Used together, they are designed to assist in planning to enhance evangelisation initiatives critical to a Catholic school’s development as a vibrant centre of evangelisation. The data gathered from the SEE and the decisions informed by the SER can play a valuable role in system-wide planning.
The SEE and SER are based on the ‘Interrelated Components of Evangelisation Framework' presented in the ACU International Spiritus Programs. This practical Framework has been informed by a comprehensive study of Church documents related to evangelisation and the role of Catholic schools as centres for evangelisation. It focuses on two high-impact strategies that significantly impact evangelisation in Catholic schools: Peer to Peer Youth Ministry and School Leader and Staff Formation.
School Evangelisation Evaluation
Following collation of the SEE instruments data, school and system leadership teams can complete a SEE Roadmap to plan and guide them in their evangelisation initiatives. The SE Roadmap offers practical suggestions for developing each component of evangelisation.
The SEE survey is based on understandings presented in the ACU Spiritus International Programs, which include a comprehensive study of Church documents concerning evangelisation and the Catholic school as a centre of evangelisation. The ‘Interrelated Components of Evangelisation Framework' provides a comprehensive framework for evaluating the various components of evangelisation in a Catholic school. This evaluation can be completed in the context of the Spiritus International Programs and following with school leadership teams.
The SEE comprises four sections
1. Evangelisation in a Catholic School – Encounter, Discipleship and Mission
2. Student Formation for Ministry
2.1 Peer with Peer Ministry
2.2 Prayer, Liturgy and Sacraments
2.3 Student Retreats
2.4 Service opportunities, social justice education, and immersion experiences
2.5 Parish, Diocese and Youth Movements
2.6 Religious Education
3. Staff and Leader Formation for Mission
3.1 Staff Formation
3.2 Leadership Formation and Commitment
3.3 Integral Education
4. Priorities
The School Evangelisation Roadmap
With the results from the SEE survey, implementing the appropriate SEE Roadmap strategies will play a key role in guiding schools. It’s important to read them carefully, highlighting the most relevant to your school or context.
The School Evangelisation Roadmap (SER) Workbook provides a roadmap containing specific steps schools can implement to enhance evangelisation across the various interrelated components of their mission. This Roadmap can be adapted in guiding schools towards a stage in which their efforts at evangelisation through faith formation and outreach are deeply embedded in the school’s culture.
The SE Roadmap provides insights and practical strategies that can be tailored to each school’s unique context, empowering schools to grow and thrive in their evangelisation mission.
The Roadmap is completed after the School Evangelisation Evaluation (SEE) by the school leadership team in consultation with experienced leaders.
The SE Roadmap is not just a set of strategies, but a tool that aligns a schools mission with the Church's mission of evangelisation. It focuses on two high-impact strategies for renewing Catholic schools as centres of evangelisation: Student Formation for Ministry and Staff and Leader Formation for mission.
