The Academy is committed to training teachers and leaders of faith formation and religious education in a way that extends their competency and efficacy, expands their theological literacy and equips them with a new set of skills to help the Church find doorways through which Australians can enter and bring faith and life into dialogue.

Above all else The Academy believes teachers and leaders need to be witnesses; people who live by the spirit of faith.

  • "Youth Ministry classes using the CSYMA program are the driving force behind student engagement in the Student Discipleship Continuum. These classes are instrumental in building a critical mass of Catholic students willing be to proactive in their faith."

Matt de Dassel - Lismore Diocese Catholic Schools Office

  • “It has been a blessing being a Youth Minister as I have been able to continue my faith journey where it all began.”

    Youth Minister, Lismore

  • "The Porta Fidei experience provided an awesome opportunity for faith refreshment and to capture the essence of youth ministry coming from your heart and not always your head. It is an opportunity for personal as well as professional development."

    Donella Walker, Teacher

  • I am so proud and moved by how far the students have come. The students in my youth ministry team are so willing to share about their faith and are so open to discussing it. The school culture has greatly grown in a willingness to have faith discussions and the students are very respectful of me and my work. I can see the Spirit working in this school in a very real way.

Bart Bunk, Youth Minister (Canberra and Goulburn)

  • "The CSYMI model provides a comprehensive evangelisation pathway for young people and promotes teacher and Church leader formation. I’m pleased to endorse it to other school and church leaders, who are looking for a way forward in their outreach with young people."

    Archbishop Christopher Prowse
